The first thing that greets you is the bright welcoming smile….and then you are drawn in with the light-hearted greeting and conversation. You have just met Joanne Davis Taylor, the author of “Won by Decision”.  If you don’t know Joanne, you may be fooled into thinking you have just encountered a sweet, friendly and caring grandmother.  

You would not be wrong…..but she is so-o-o-o much more! As a long-time writer, commentator and author, Joanne is not quite sure if her family of “communicators” is the spark that sent her on her life-time journey in writing.   Joanne only knows that she has always enjoyed grabbing a pen and putting her thoughts and feelings on paper.  She expresses, “It just comes naturally. You just write!”

While attending college, Joanne was able to hone her skills as a writer.  She has explored and challenged her thought processes and writing skills through freelance writing, newspaper publications, published articles….and more.  The fact that she is a wife and mother has not hindered her enthusiasm to write.  In fact, you could say that life itself has given her new reasons to write, expound, and share.

Taking a closer look at this multifaceted woman, you will be somewhat amazed.  Did I mention that at the very center of her being and stability is her belief in God.  This has expressed itself through Joanne’s decision to become an Evangelist.  You would not be wrong in saying that her role as wife, mother, evangelist, and writer revolves around her professed belief in God.  Sharing and communicating Christian values and beliefs is important to her and has formed the guiding principles in her life.  Hope and Joy are her mantra.

Perhaps you think there could be no other surprises with regard to Joanne.  You would be wrong!   Joanne still has DREAMS!  Let me start by saying that one of Joanne’s dreams was to write a book that would be published.  There just happened to be a book that had lingered in her mind for over 20 years.   Parts, pieces, paragraphs, phrases, and excerpts were being memorialized on scraps of paper and in notebooks.   Some of the thoughts even made it onto computer disks.  But, alas, the book remained in her mind and in her heart for over 20 years….and the story would not go away.    At long last, it happened.  When life and time aligned,  Joanne wrote that story in a most enlightening  book called “Won by Decision”.

“Won by Decision” is a true story that Joanne “witnessed and experienced” through the all-to-real stories told by her valued friend.  Each chapter was writing itself as her friend expounded on this cross-generational story. It was a story that Joanne dared to share…. And needed to share.  It was a story that no one wants to know, but yet a story that needs to be known, shared, pondered, and remembered.

Will lives be changed because of this book?  Will minds be altered?  Will society change?  The answer can only be determined after you have read this book…….and rendered your “ decision”.

 Joanne Davis Taylor resides in Bluffton, South Carolina.  She lives with her husband, Charles, who continues to be an important and enduring source of support.   As well, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and church family. Joanne continues to write articles and has more dreams.  Dream #1 – To invite 3 famous people to dinner – Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry, and Michelle Obama.  Dream #2 - Joanne is working on another book!    Lastly, when asked how she would describe herself in three words, she quickly answered,  “I serve God!”
