It is with great anticipation that we approach the final day of the Campbell Chapel AME 150th Church Anniversary. The celebration started on June 30, 2024 with celebration activities happening nightly throughout the week. The congregation "family and friends" have enjoyed prayer, praise, song, and Word. The atmosphere of joy and thankfulness is in the air.
On Sunday, July 7th, the keynote speaker, Congressman James E. Clyburn will share his thoughts and wisdom as he addresses this congregation at this joyous occasion.
Congressman James E. Clyburn served as U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina's 6th Congressional District in the U.S. Hourse of Representatives through February 2024 and Chairman of the Democratic Faith Working Group. He previously served as Assistant Democratic Leader from 2011 to 2018 and 2023 to 2024, and House Majority Whip from 2019 to 2022 and 2007 to 2010, making him the first African American to serve multiple terms as Majority Whip. On May 3, 2024, Congressman Clyburn was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Congressman Clyburn has led efforts to preserve and restore historic buildings on the campuses of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
Please join us as we welcome, Congressman James E. Clyburn to Campbell Chapel AME!
